Mac OS X 10.2
Yiddish Font Update
To update for the corrected system Lucide Sans Regular Font, for OS X 10.2 "Jaguar" to the latest version which has corrected characters for Yiddish, follow these steps:
1) Check your OS version by clicking on the Apple Menu, About This Mac. If
you already have version 10.2.5 or higher, skip to step 8), below. If you have a lower
version of OS X 10.2, go to step 2), below.
2) Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu.
3) Choose Software Update from the General menu.
4) Click Update Now.
5) Select the Mac OS X Update, plus any other optional programs you want to install. If
you have limited space on your computer, be sure to un-check any updates that you don't
want. Click Install.
6) Verify your user name and enter your OS password.
7) After the update is complete, restart the computer if requested.
8) Repeat steps 2 through 4, above, if necessary, and check to see if there is an
update available for Java version 1.4.1. (If you just completed steps 2 through 7, above,
the Software Update window may still be open.) If the Java 1.4.1. update is available,
select the update and un-check any other updates that you don't want. Click Install.
If it is not available, that means that you already have it and so you don't need it. You
don't need a higher version. (You don't need Java at all for Yiddish. It just happens that
the developer folder for that version of Java comes with a corrected font that works for
Yiddish. Just a coincidence.) After the update is complete, restart the computer if
requested.
9) Open the HD and locate this folder:
Mac HD > System > Library > Frameworks > JavaVMFramework > Versions > 1.4.1 > Home > lib > fonts >
Copy this file temporarily to your Desktop by holding Option while clicking and dragging it to your desktop:
LucidaSansRegular.ttf
10) Move the file by dragging it into this location:
Mac HD >Library>Fonts
